SCOTLAND and Celtic star James Forrest and Old Firm legends Dixie Deans and Willie Henderson joined staff at Glasgow-based technology company Exsel Group to hand over around 500 Christmas gifts to charities helping children this Christmas.

The ‘Gifts for Glasgow’ were donated by staff and clients of the IT and communications company.

It’s the third year Exsel Group, which has just moved to new headquarters at Glasgow Business Park, has collected and distributed Christmas gifts for disadvantaged children.

Managing director Tom McDonald said: “Gifts for Glasgow is something we are very passionate about here at Exsel. We have had great success with the event over the past two years and look forward to seeing how we can take it to the next level this year.

“We believe that companies have a duty to lend a helping hand to those in need within their community, so we created Gifts for Glasgow to try to help the many families across our community that find Christmas a tough time of year.”

The charities which will distribute the gifts include the Celtic FC Foundation, Spirit Aid and Salvation Army

Easterhouse.

James Forrest said: “This is a great effort from everyone involved. It will go a long way to helping disadvantaged kids enjoy Christmas.

Pat Rolink, of Spirit Aid, added: “We’re delighted to see businesses supporting their local community and giving hope to people who are really vulnerable. It shows they are prepared to go the extra mile.”

Exsel was ranked 27th in the prestigious Deloitte’s Fast 50 last month, one of only two Scottish companies to achieve the ranking. It’s the second year in a row it has been recognised by Deloitte for its performance and follows being shortlisted earlier this year in the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce business awards as Best Performing Business.

Exsel provides a range of IT and telecommunication solutions to companies of all sizes including business mobile phones, phone systems and hosted IT telephony, management of printing and photocopying solutions and IT support services including cloud based solutions.

The company is backed by Coralinn LLP, the investment vehicle of leading Scottish entrepreneur Hugh Stewart OBE.
