Hugh Stewart

Founder & CEO

Hugh StewartHugh Stewart is a successful Scottish entrepreneur and businessman with a substantial track record of starting and building companies on a global scale.

Prior to the foundation of Coralinn, Hugh was the Executive Chairman of the Caledonian Alloys Group in Livingston. In 1996, Hugh and two other colleagues took Caledonian to from a new start up and built it into one of the world's premier aerospace recycling companies before its sale in 2007. Caledonian's success was recognised by many awards including the 2007 Scotland PL award for 'The Most Outstanding Private Company in Scotland'. In 2007 Caledonian was sold to Precision Cast Parts, a Fortune 500 company. Hugh left the company in 2009 when it had a turnover of $450m, over thirteen locations worldwide and over 500 staff.

Hugh Stewart was a Chartered Accountant and worked for Coopers and Lybrand in the UK and South Africa. He held a senior finance role as a Board Director of a metals business where his interest in strategic development led to his involvement in the successful opening of subsidiaries in the USA and Eastern Europe.

Hugh was awarded an OBE for his services to the industry in 2008.


John Wardlaw

Investment Director

John WardlawJohn is Coralinn's investment director and is responsible for managing the company's investment portfolio and sourcing new investment opportunities. He was previously managing director of Caledonian Alloys and before this was a business advisor with Scottish Enterprise, working with high growth SMEs. John has a BSc (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Dundee and an MBA.

 

 


Barry Simpson

Financial Director

Barry SimpsonBarry is the Financial Director in Coralinn’s investment team. He is an ACCA qualified accountant with over 20 years’ experience at practical, managerial and Board levels within some of the most successful private and international companies. While working for Caledonian Alloys under Precision Castparts Corp., Barry became Financial Controller, successfully building and leading a high performance financial team for a company with annual revenues exceeding $350 million. 




Bastien Chavagneux

Financial Controller

Bastien's role within Coralinn includes aiding in financial control and management of accounts. He has worked in the finance department for many major companies including Eurocopter, Airbus Group and the French Ministry of Defence, where he was Financial Controller and Quality Manager for 5 years. Bastien has MScs in Quality Management and Financial Control. He is CIMA certificate level qualified and is fluent in French and English.
